Design a Block for Linus
Pictures
These pictures from our Design A Block for Linus booth were taken at the
Boise Basin Quilters Quilt Show.
This
is our booth directly inside the front door of the Boise Centre on the
Grove, a beautiful convention center in downtown Boise. You can
see just a few of the 1,086 nine patch and colored muslin squares made
during the quilt show hanging on the drapes around our booth. 3
1/2" fabric squares are on the front table for visitors to the quilt
show to use to Design a Block for Linus.
Tables
full of fabric squares ready to be designed and sewed into
nine patch quilt blocks. We first met Marilyn, the lady in pink,
when she asked if we could make quilts for Royal Family Kids Camp where
she is one of the directors. We could and we have for six years!
Marilyn has become a dedicated Project Linus volunteer.
Katy,
age three, just happened to be coloring a muslin square when Koju
Kimura, an Idaho Statesman photographer, came by our booth. He
spent twenty minutes taking pictures of Katy from every angle.
Katy was completely oblivious of the fact that there was a man with a
camera in her face. She was too busy designing and coloring her
muslin square. The completed quilt with the picture Katy drew is
here - Crayon Square Quilt
Becah
helped out for several hours at our booth. She didn't want to go
home when her Mom said it was time to go and she wanted to come back the
next day! She designed many, many blocks for Linus.
Heidi
(my granddaughter), and Cassidy (granddaughter of volunteer Diana)
working at the Color a Block for Linus table. Cassidy is only
seven, but she spent the entire day designing blocks for her Grandma
Diana to sew, besides coloring a few muslin squares.
Diana,
Cassidy's grandma, spent both days at the Quilt Show sewing nine-patch
blocks, as well as helping setup our booth on Friday.
I
just had to add this picture of our granddaughters Heidi, Tara and her
son Zach (our great grandson),
and Robyn. Heidi and Robyn helped set up for the quilt show on
Friday. Heidi worked in our booth all
day Saturday, and both Heidi and Robyn worked Sunday afternoon.
